If you’re looking for the perfect breakfast, lunch or social spot, then The Smug Fig, Kitchen and Social is the place for you. We recently visited The Smug Fig in Stones Corner and quickly realised everyone needs to know about this spot.

Here’s our review and everything you need to know about this local legend.

Cafe, bar and more

The Smug Fig isn’t just another cafe or bar in Brisbane’s inner south; it’s a social hub where you can work, catch up and even compete in trivia nights. You can check out the schedule on their website. The Smug Fig has all the components of a great cafe: good food, good cafe and an indoor/outdoor seating with a beautiful, airy design.

But more than that, The Smug Fig has a vibe that invites you in for more than just a quick visit. When we stumbled across The Smug Fig on our walk, we found multiple people working on the long window bench seating, enjoying the shaded morning breeze. Families dining in with their kids and old friends catching up over brunch. The vibe felt welcoming and relaxed, like you could sit there all day.

The Smug Fig really does feel like the perfect “work from home” solution to those needing to get out or even those travelling between client meetings.

The food and drink

Beyond the atmosphere and vibes, The Smug Fig offers a great menu, with plenty of freshly made-to-order menu items, as well as a cabinet full of great “on the go” options.

As dietary and allergy-impacted individuals, we were amazed by the commitment and friendliness of the staff to answer any and all questions about dietary requirements. There are options for gluten-free/coeliac as well as dairy-free diners.

The coffee was freshly roasted, ground and served up that much-needed hit of caffeine to help us through the morning. If you’re a fan of a toastie, then we can’t go on without recommending the brisket toastie, with the garlic aioli on the side for dipping. That’s a sandwich we will visit again! No matter what time of day you’re visiting, the food and drink are on point at The Smug Fig.

The Smug Fig at night

When the lights go down on the coffee and eggs, The Smug Fig doesn’t stop service. With a range of organised events each month, such as trivia nights and other social events, The Smug Fig is the perfect spot for a catch-up with a few drinks.

The Smug Fig have a range of beers, wines and sparkling options to choose from, and even has Hard Rated on tap. If you’re interested, you can also turn any brunch into a boozy affair by adding bottomless mimosas for a small charge.

In addition to the events and The Smug Fig being a great place to catch up for a drink, you can also host your next event at the venue. The Smug Fig can be booked for private events, so whether you’re looking for a birthday, engagement or other celebration event, check out their offering, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Located in Stones Corner, The Smug Fig is a local Brisbane gem, and one that everyone should check out! Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or an event, the vibe and location can’t be beaten.
